On Friday, June 10, Forté had the immense privilege of helping to celebrate the career of our friend, Kate Myers. After 31 years of teaching band in Colorado Springs District 11, Kate is retiring in style! Kate threw herself a party in the form of a concert, “That Was Fun! Celebrating Music and the People Who Make It!” For this concert, she invited several local musicians to play anything they wanted, as long as their selection(s) were FUN (for the performers)! Between Forté, the Dreamweavers, and the Pikes Peak Ringers, handbells were well represented!
We had the incredible opportunity to film today at Bishop Castle, near Rye, Colorado. We just have a few pictures for now, because we don’t want to give too much away. If you are ever in the area, this is a great place to explore!

Inspired by the exciting advances and ideas of performers and musicians both within and beyond the handbell world, and staying true to our own mission of exploration, Forté is testing boundaries, questioning conceptions, and challenging ourselves and the whole handbell world to Rethink Possible. As we tour to and from the Handbell Musicians of America National Seminar, we will be presenting performances of a broad range of musical styles, including many not often heard on our instrument.
After a pre-tour concert in the Denver area, we will begin our eastward leg with a send-off concert in Colorado Springs on Friday, July 8. In Rochester, we have the honor of playing a Feature Concert at the HMA National Seminar. After National Seminar, we will head back along a different route. Once we’ve returned home, we will have a Welcome Home concert in Colorado Springs and one final wrap-up concert in the Denver area.

A crescendo is a steady increase in force or intensity, and Forté is doing just that! Building on a foundation of favorites, and adding even more exciting and moving moments, we will bring you an evening of music and entertainment to refresh and inspire.
We’re proud (and excited) to announce that we’re going to be playing a feature concert at the Handbell Musicians of America National Seminar in Rochester, NY this summer! Our Feature Concert will be Friday, July 15, at 5:30 PM.
In their most recent Group Spotlight post, the Handbell Brothers’ Blog featured the Forté Handbell Quartet!
In 2013 my brother Bryce and I set off across the country to participate in the Raleigh Ringers’ Virtuoso event. Along the way, we stopped by the beautiful mountain town of Colorado Springs to crash a Pikes Peak Youth Ringers concert. The kids sounded great, but what really struck me by surprise was a quartet that performed during the concert. Four ringers played “Sabre Dance” at full speed while adding a mind bending amount of choreography. The performance was fascinating to watch, and afterwards I had to go meet them. They introduced themselves as the Forté Handbell Quartet.
